Why do we need to avoid touching our face?

Once upon a time, in a land filled with bouncy castles made of clouds and lollipop trees, lived a little explorer named Pip. Pip loved to explore! He’d zoom around the bouncy castle clouds, swinging from lollipop tree to lollipop tree, his giggles echoing through the land. He was a curious little explorer, always touching things – the soft, fluffy clouds, the sticky-sweet lollipops, and even the sparkly dew drops on the giant rainbow flowers.
One day, Pip discovered a magical, shimmering cave. It was hidden behind a waterfall of chocolate milk (delicious!), and it pulsed with a gentle, rainbow glow. Pip, brimming with excitement, wriggled through the waterfall, his tiny hands dripping with chocolatey goodness. Inside, the cave was filled with amazing things! Glittering rocks that hummed softly, tiny creatures that glowed in the dark, and a big, comfy, fluffy cloud-like pillow.
Pip, overwhelmed by the wonder of it all, started to explore. He touched the humming rocks, feeling their vibrations tickle his fingertips. He carefully picked up a glowing creature, marveling at its tiny light. And then, he saw the fluffy pillow. It looked so soft, so inviting! He snuggled his face right into it, burying his nose deep into its fluffy depths.
Suddenly, he felt a tickle in his nose. Then another. And another! He started to sneeze, a great, big, rumbling sneeze that shook the whole cave! The glowing creatures scattered, the humming rocks went quiet, and the magical glow of the cave dimmed. Pip felt a little bit… yucky.
A wise old voice echoed through the cave. "Oh, Pip," the voice said gently, "What have you done?"
Pip, sniffling, looked around. He saw a tiny, almost invisible friend hovering near the pillow. The friend was a mischievous little fellow, smaller than a ladybug, and he was giggling.
"He’s a wee germ," the wise voice explained. "Germs are tiny, tiny friends that live everywhere – on the rocks, on the flowers, even on the pillows. Most of them are harmless, but some can make you feel unwell. When you touch things, you can pick up these little friends, and if you touch your face – especially your eyes, nose, and mouth – those little friends can enter your body."
Pip, feeling quite embarrassed, wiped his nose. The wise voice continued, "Your eyes, nose, and mouth are like special doorways into your body. Think of them like the entrance to your amazing bouncy castle home – you wouldn’t want just anyone to walk right in, would you?"
Pip shook his head.
"That's right," the wise voice said. "Germs are like uninvited guests. They can make you feel poorly, causing you to have a runny nose, a cough, or even a tummy ache. To keep them out, we need to keep our hands clean and avoid touching our face unnecessarily."
The wise voice then showed Pip a special sparkly soap made from rainbow flower petals and chocolate milk. "Wash your hands regularly with this special soap," it advised. "It helps to wash away the little germ friends."
Pip learned a valuable lesson that day. He learned that while exploring is wonderful, keeping his hands clean and avoiding touching his face is important to stay healthy. He thanked the wise voice and the little giggling germ for teaching him.
From that day on, Pip continued his explorations, but he was much more careful. He still touched the amazing things in the land of bouncy castles and lollipop trees, but he remembered to wash his hands thoroughly afterward. He learned to use his elbows to rub his eyes when they itched and to use a tissue to wipe his nose. And whenever he felt a tickle in his nose, he remembered the mischievous little germ and reached for the sparkly soap, keeping himself safe and healthy.
He still giggled as he zoomed around the bouncy castle clouds and swung from lollipop trees, but now, his giggles were even brighter, knowing he was keeping those special doorways to his body safe and sound. He understood that while exploration was exciting, looking after his health was even more important. He learned that being a healthy explorer was the best adventure of all! And every time he washed his hands, he imagined chasing away those little giggling germs, sending them back to their own tiny homes, far away from his eyes, nose, and mouth. He knew that by being careful, he could continue to explore all the wonders of his magical world, feeling happy, healthy, and strong. And that, Pip realised, was the greatest adventure of all.
