Why do we feel excited?

Once upon a time, in a land filled with bouncy castles and lollipop trees, lived a little fluffy cloud named Nimbus. Nimbus wasn't just any cloud; he was a feeling cloud! He didn't bring rain or snow, but he carried feelings – big, bouncy, happy feelings! And the best part? He shared them with everyone!
One sunny morning, Nimbus floated down to a meadow where a little bunny was hopping around. The bunny was busy building a magnificent sandcastle, carefully piling grain of sand upon grain of sand. He was so focused, his little nose twitched with concentration. Nimbus watched, and a tiny tickle of a feeling – a feeling of anticipation – started to bubble inside him. He puffed himself up a little, and a warm, golden glow spread across his fluffy edges.
“What’s that feeling, Nimbus?” whispered the bunny, looking up, startled by the sudden glow.
Nimbus giggled, a sound like wind chimes. “It’s anticipation, little one! It’s the happy feeling you get when you’re about to do something really exciting. Like finishing your amazing sandcastle!”
The bunny felt a warm fuzziness in his tummy. He hadn’t thought of it that way before. He suddenly felt a rush of energy, his little paws working even faster to add the final turret to his sandcastle. As he placed the last grain of sand, he felt a burst of another feeling – accomplishment! Nimbus swelled with a bright, ruby-red glow.
“That’s accomplishment!” Nimbus boomed, his voice like the gentle rustling of leaves. “That’s the happy feeling you get when you’ve finished something you worked hard on! It’s wonderful, isn’t it?”
The bunny hopped around, his ears twitching with joy. He'd never noticed how wonderful those feelings were!
Nimbus then floated over to a playful group of little squirrels who were preparing for a game of hide-and-seek amongst the tall, swaying grass. He could feel a zippy, electric feeling buzzing inside him. It was excitement! The feeling of anticipation was growing stronger now!
"What's that, Nimbus?" squeaked one of the squirrels, their eyes wide with curiosity as the cloud shimmered with a vibrant, electric blue.
"That's excitement!" Nimbus exclaimed, his voice echoing like a joyful melody. "It's the feeling you get when something fun and thrilling is about to happen! Like your hide-and-seek game!"
The little squirrels felt a shiver of delight run down their tiny spines. Their hearts pounded with anticipation. The game began, filled with peals of laughter and the thrill of the chase. When one squirrel finally found the others, the air was filled with happy squeals and the glow of joy – a feeling Nimbus expressed as a shimmering, bright-yellow glow, soft and warm like the sun.
Later that day, Nimbus floated over to a family of playful creatures who were preparing a special picnic. They were arranging colorful fruits, delicious nuts, and sweet berries. The mother creature was humming a cheerful tune while carefully arranging the food. A gentle, calm feeling settled over Nimbus; a feeling of contentment.
“That’s contentment,” Nimbus whispered, his glow a peaceful, sky-blue hue. “It's the happy feeling you get when you are surrounded by people you love and you're enjoying a special moment together.”
The family shared their picnic, their faces filled with smiles and laughter. Nimbus watched, bathed in the warmth of their happiness. He felt another feeling, a strong, swelling sensation, like his whole being was expanding. It was love – a feeling as vast and limitless as the sky itself, expressed in Nimbus's glow as a deep, rich purple.
As the sun began to set, Nimbus floated back to his home among the stars. He realized that there were so many different kinds of happy feelings. Anticipation, accomplishment, excitement, joy, contentment, and love were just a few of them. And the most amazing thing was that these feelings made everyone happy, and everyone's happiness made him happy!
He knew that every time he felt a new feeling – whether it was big or small, quick or slow – it meant he was alive, and experiencing the wonderful world around him. And that, he realized, was the most exciting thing of all. He drifted off to sleep, already looking forward to the next day, and all the new feelings it would bring! So remember little one, all those feelings, big or small, are exciting and wonderful! Embrace them all!
